Djamilya Taher

My name is Djamilya, and I am a Kazakh-Singaporean сurrently studying in School of the Arts Singapore in the stream of literary arts.

Being a very enthusiastic person at heart, I draw my interests from a huge variety of different topics and subjects. I really enjoy history, especially the history of warfare across different centuries and countries, as well as various political structures of governments around the world.

I am also highly interested in technology, such as the development of tanks, planes and the like.
As hobbies, I enjoy writing and creating a variety of characters and worlds, debating on complex topics and ideas, and reading books and articles, including both fiction and non-fiction. When I have an interest in certain topics, I often do plenty of in depth research and unpacking of the topic to understand it better.
I enjoy reading Russian literature too, with my favourite authors being Dostoevsky, Grinn and Lermontov, and books on world history and political issues, such as George Orwell’s 1984 and Khaled Hossini’s books on the Taliban regime.

Although I am not religious, I do believe in the supernatural, and my natural curiosity leads me to explore many theories, including those of human evolution.
Sometimes I even think I’m an old soul trapped in a young person’s body.
I am very proud of my Kazakh heritage, and believe strongly in equality and fairness. I want to help young women in Kazakhstan reach their potential, and aid in breaking stereotypes and common mindsets.
